Catherine Kilbane
The Andersons and the Cleveland Clinic
Since 2007, Catherine Kilbane has served on the board of The Andersons, a $5 billion diversified agribusiness company. She is the lead independent director, chairs the nominating and governance committee and is a member of the compensation committee. In July 2018 she was elected to the board of the Davy Tree Expert Company, where she serves on the audit committee. In the same month she was elected to the board of Interface, a global designer and manufacturer of luxury floor coverings, based in Atlanta, where she also serves on the audit committee.
Kilbane currently serves on the board of trustees of the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, the Cuyahoga Community College Foundation, the Downtown Cleveland Alliance and the 50 Club of Cleveland. She is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors, where she serves on the nominating and governance committee advisory panel.
In August 2017 Kilbane retired as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary of the Sherwin-Williams Company. In that role she oversaw delivery of domestic and global legal services, advising management on all aspects of legal and regulatory matters relating to the company’s 40,000 employees and more than 4,200 retail stores. She was also responsible for corporate governance, litigation, M&A and intellectual property.
Prior to Sherwin-Williams, Kilbane served for nine years as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary of American Greetings Corporation, where she had oversight for the legal department and all legal functions, as well as involvement in tax, government relations, real estate and internal audit. Prior to this she practiced law for 16 years with Baker & Hostetler, where she was a partner in the general business group.
Kilbane is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University’s School of Law, and earned a BA from Case in 1984.
